Satin, Sateen and Silk Sheets

Everyone knows that silk bedding is the most expensive luxury bedding sets, however, not that everyone know how to distinguish silk from other fabric.
When shopping for lustrous sheets, silk, satin and sateen often get confused. However, both satin and sateen are artificial and not as durable as silk. Sateen is commonly combined with cotton, while satin sheets can be woven from several materials, like silk, nylon and polyester. Although satin sheets are a great affordable option, if you’re looking for true silk luxury, make sure the label says 100 silk sheets.

To choosing the best silk bed sheet, you’ll have to know about the silk styles before moving on. Keeping reading to get general idea!
Decide on a type. When purchasing silk bedding set, there are typically two types of silk — mulberry silk and wild silk. Mulberry silk is produced using silkworms fed a special diet of mulberry leaves. This special treatment helps produce the softest and most luxurious silk in the market. Made from a variety of silkworm types, wild silk is still very soft but more affordable. If you’re looking for a bargain sheet set that is still 100 percent silk, look for silk sheet sets that mix both silk types. Whichever type of silk you choose, you’ll rest easy thanks to the fabric’s breathable nature.

The lower the momme weight, the thinner the sheets in your silk sheet set will be. Look for a momme weight around 13 to 19 for silk sheets that are durable and soft.

Silk Comforter Maintenance-III

Taking care of silk comforters may seem scary but you’ll find it easy once you follow these simple guidelines below.

Always use a mild soap and cool/lukewarm water when washing silk duvet covers. Never, ever use bleach. Wash silk in a washing machine only if it has a safe-for-silk cycle labeled gentle or delicate. If it doesn’t, wash by hand or take it to a dry cleaner. Dry silk in a dryer only if it has an air-only setting. Not all of them do, and it takes only a few minutes to reach a high enough temperature to damage fine silk. Whenever drying a silk garment on a drying rack, check for dyes and finishes that could cause stains. Avoid drying silk in direct sunlight, because this can damage the fiber and cause the color to fade.

Taking a few simple steps like the aforementioned tips to look after your luxury bedding comforter will prolong its life and maintain its luxurious look and feel.

Silk Comforter Maintenance-II

Silk comforter set keeps warm in winter, and cool in summer, and your health benefits a lot from it. To maintain it well, besides a removable duvet cover, sun curing is necessary!

“Sun curing” is the traditional way to care for a silk comforter. You should air out your silk comforter using this technique periodically, whenever it becomes heavy or starts to lose heat retention. To do so, place the comforter in the sun (with the cover on for protection) for an hour or two at the most. Because silk has the ability to absorb moisture, this process will dry it out, making it fluffier and lighter, and improving its insulating properties. Alternatively, you may place the comforter in the dryer on extra low heat for a short time, not to exceed 30 minutes.

Silk is an amazing fiber in that it is remarkably strong, and yet very fragile, so much care should be taken to keep your luxury bedding comforter in premium condition.
