When I design silk nightgowns, there’s one question that comes up again and again: Do people prefer the clean look of solid colors, or the soft, romantic touch of lace?
It’s not something with a simple answer. To me, these two styles don’t compete. They express different moods — calm and gentle, modern and romantic — and both have their place.
When I first started creating solid-color silk nightgowns, my goal was simple: to let the silk speak for itself. I wanted to keep everything pure — no extra details, no distractions — just the smooth texture, the natural shine, and the way it moves with the body. There’s something very peaceful about this kind of design. It’s like coming home after a long day, turning on a soft light, and letting yourself breathe.
But when I added lace to the designs, the feeling changed completely. A bit of lace at the neckline or hem adds a softness that’s hard to describe. It frames the body in a delicate way and creates a quiet sense of romance. Colors like soft rose, cream gold, or classic black give the silk a new kind of energy — not loud, but warm and intimate. Many people tell me they feel “different” the moment they put on a lace-trimmed nightgown. It’s as if their mood shifts a little.

What’s interesting is how different people respond. Some clients love the simple, clean look of solid silk. They say it feels timeless and fits easily into their everyday life. Others are drawn to the atmosphere that lace creates. One person once told me, “When I wear that lace-trimmed one, I just feel softer.”
Same fabric, different designs — completely different emotional reactions.
This is exactly why I love what I do. Designing isn’t just about showing my own taste. It’s also about listening and observing how different people live, what they enjoy, and how clothing makes them feel. Solid silk and lace aren’t about picking sides. They’re two ways of expressing different parts of ourselves.
So today, I don’t want to make a case for one or the other. Instead, I’d love to hear from you:
When it comes to silk nightgowns, which do you lean toward?
Do you prefer the calm, simple elegance of solid colors, or the romantic, soft touch of lace?
Or maybe, like many people, you switch between the two depending on your mood and the moment.
