There is another myth of cheap silk sheets that it could naturally keep itself clean. That is the reason why you don’t have to wash it usually.
Since it can naturally fight off dust and mold, silk does not require a rigorous cleaning regime. The first two or three times that you do clean silk quilts, however, hand washing in a sink is recommended. Always use a mild detergent and cool water to wash the material. After a few washes by hand, you can use the washing machine without damaging the silk. Be sure to let the bedding air dry, which will not take long due to the thinness of the silk bedsheets. Silk comforters should only be washed as needed, such as a spill or other stain due to its self-clean feature.
