When ordering custom silk scarves for a wedding, brand event, corporate gift, or another occasion with a specific date, one of the most important things to know before placing your order is: “When will my scarves arrive?”
On the ElleSilk custom silk scarf product page, you’ll find two production time options: Standard Production and Rush Production. So, what’s the difference between them? How long does each option take, and which one should you choose?
To answer these questions, let’s first look at how Production Time is calculated.
How Is Production Time Calculated?
From production to final delivery, a custom silk scarf order goes through two main stages: Production and Shipping.
Production itself involves a series of steps. Each scarf goes through Cutting, Sizing, Printing, Steaming, Washing, Hemming, and Packaging. Once all of these production steps are complete, the order moves on to the Shipping stage.
As soon as we receive your order, we begin the initial preparation, including cutting and sizing the fabric. If you have purchased our Design Preview service, we will send your design preview by email within approximately 24 hours for your approval before moving forward with production.
The starting point of your Production Time depends on whether you have purchased the Design Preview service:
If you purchased the Design Preview service, Production Time begins on the day you reply to approve your design and continues until your scarves are finished and packaged.
If you did not purchase the Design Preview service, Production Time begins on the day you place your order.
In either case, Production Time covers the production process only and does not include Shipping Time.
How Much Faster Is Rush Production Than Standard Production?
With Standard Production, your scarves typically take 12–18 business days to produce. Once production is complete, Standard Shipping usually takes an additional 5–8 business days.
With Rush Production, the production time is shortened to 7–9 business days. Once production is complete, your order will be shipped via Express Shipping, which typically takes approximately 4–7 business days.
Business days refer to Monday through Friday and do not include weekends. Public holidays may also affect production or shipping times.
So, when estimating when your scarves will arrive, be sure to consider both Production Time and Shipping Time rather than Production Time alone.
Why Does Rush Production Cost an Additional $10 per Scarf?
Rush Production is not simply a matter of shortening the standard production time by a few days. To complete rush orders faster, we need to adjust our overall production schedule, prioritize orders according to their deadlines, and minimize waiting time between different stages of production.
In addition, our custom silk scarves are finished with hand-rolled hems. Each scarf is individually hemmed by skilled artisans, and this process naturally takes time. For rush orders, we may need to assign additional artisans to the hand-hemming process and arrange additional working hours to meet the tighter production schedule.
For these reasons, Rush Production costs an additional $10 per scarf to cover priority scheduling, expedited production, and the additional labor required.
Should I Choose Standard or Rush Production?
If you are working with a tight timeline, we recommend selecting Rush Production when placing your order. Once we receive your order, we will schedule it as a priority rush order.
If your scarves must arrive before a wedding, brand event, corporate event, or another specific date, we recommend allowing some extra time rather than planning around the shortest possible production and shipping estimates.

What If Rush Production Is Still Not Fast Enough?
If your deadline is even shorter than our Rush Production timeframe, it does not necessarily mean that we cannot accommodate your order.
We are committed to meeting our customers’ needs whenever possible. If you have a particularly urgent deadline, please contact us by email and provide your order quantity, required delivery date, and any other relevant details.
Our team will review the current production schedule, your order quantity, and your deadline to see whether a customized production arrangement can be made.
Can I Add Rush Production After Placing My Order?
Yes. If you have already placed your silk scarf order and later realize that you need it sooner, you can purchase Rush Production separately through our Add-on Service without placing a new scarf order.
Here’s how:
- Go to the Add-on Service page and select “Rush Production for Silk Scarf.”
- Enter your original Order Number in the Description field.
- Enter the Quantity based on the number of scarves in your original order. For example, if you ordered 100 scarves, enter 100 as the quantity for the Rush Production Add-on.
- Complete checkout. Once we receive your Add-on Service order, we will use the information provided to upgrade the production schedule for your original order.
If you need to upgrade to Rush Production, we recommend doing so as early as possible. Once your order has moved further into the production process, there may be less flexibility to adjust the schedule.
Plan Ahead for a More Comfortable Timeline
The earlier you confirm your required date and place your order, the more time you’ll have for custom production and shipping—and the less you’ll have to worry about unnecessary delays as your event date approaches.
